The church stands in its own grounds with a small car-park and was built in the 1950s through subscriptions from the local community and with help from the PCC. St Lawrence’s style of worship is probably the most informal although its form is still firmly within the Anglican tradition. Like the other two Anglican churches, St Lawrence has a Eucharist service on all Sundays in the month.

Musicians, drawn from the congregation, play on a rota basis at the Sunday services, so there is always a variety of music. There is a constant need for other musicians who can play keyboard, a wind instrument or guitar, so if you could help in this way, please contact us and volunteer!

Once a month, a mid-week Holy Communion is provided in the church and in two nursing homes in the area.

Those who attend St Lawrence are fiercely protective of the spirit which is engendered within its worship and give unstintingly of their time in its interest. Loyal members regularly supply coffee after the service, flowers for Sunday services and there is always a warm welcome at its services.

Seedlings @ St Lawrence

For some time we’ve been aware that there is an appetite in Chesterton to have some sort of parent-toddler group at St Lawrence, particularly through comments asking whether something like the successful summer holiday club mornings run by Hope Cirencester can continue all year round. We’re pleased to announce Seedlings @ St Lawrence

To start with Seedlings will be once a month on the first Monday afternoon of the month 1:30-3:00pm. This will be a relaxed time for parents to chat over tea, coffee and biscuits while the children play. Please do come and join us!
